BlackRock’s ‘Ethereum Staking ETF’ debuts…$15.5 million traded on day one

BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, logged $15.5 million in trading volume on the first day of listing for its newly launched Ethereum staking exchange-traded fund (ETF).

According to the industry on the 12th (local time), BlackRock’s staking Ethereum ETF, ‘ETHB,’ posted roughly $15.5 million in turnover on its first day of trading. James Seyffart, a Bloomberg ETF analyst, said the figure was “a fairly solid level for a new ETF’s first-day performance.”

ETHB is structured to directly hold spot Ethereum (ETH) while allocating a portion of the assets to deposits on the blockchain network. This allows investors to capture baseline capital gains from Ethereum price moves as well as additional rewards from staking at the same time.

The product is BlackRock’s third cryptocurrency-related ETF and its first to put a staking mechanism front and center.

BlackRock said, “We introduced this feature to meet demand from investors seeking both Ethereum price exposure and additional staking income,” adding, “We will also maintain the inherent strengths and stability that traditional finance ETFs provide, including custody, trading, and asset allocation.”
