A forecast has emerged that Bitcoin (BTC) could deliver investment returns of up to 10x over the next decade.

According to DL News, a crypto-focused media outlet, prominent investor and Digital Assets Council chairman Ric Edelman said in a CNBC interview that “Bitcoin’s return potential is enormous,” adding that “over the next 10 years, you can expect investment returns of up to 10x.”

He cited low adoption and limited supply as the backdrop for that outlook. Edelman explained that “currently, fewer than 5% of the world’s population holds Bitcoin, and total supply is capped at 21 million coins,” adding that “this structure could help drive prices higher.”

He also argued that traditional asset-allocation strategies need to change. “As advances in medical technology extend life expectancy, the traditional 60/40 portfolio model is increasingly becoming outdated,” he said. “If you plan to invest 70–80% of your capital in equities, you could also consider raising the share of crypto assets not to 1–2% but to around 10–20%.”

However, he assessed that Bitcoin’s early vision of being used as a currency has effectively failed. “Hardly anyone thinks Bitcoin will be used as money,” Edelman said, adding that “instead, it is more likely to establish itself as a store of value and a powerful brand asset.”
