Gasoline prices in the US are rising rapidly in the wake of the war in the Middle East.
According to GasBuddy on the 18th (local time), the national average gasoline price climbed 5 cents in a single day to $3.84 per gallon, up about 86 cents from late February.
Price increases were seen nationwide, with particularly sharp gains in some areas such as Tennessee and Kentucky. In the West, prices topped $5 per gallon, while diesel prices are also holding above $5 across the US.
The market is assessing that rising uncertainty over energy supplies amid military clashes in the Middle East is sustaining upward pressure on fuel prices.
