A warning has been issued that cryptocurrency (digital asset) phishing attacks exploiting AI-driven coding trends are spreading.
According to CoinDesk, a media outlet specializing in digital assets, Israeli cybersecurity firm OX Security said on the 19th (local time) that it recently identified a phishing scam targeting OpenClaw developers active on GitHub.
Attackers impersonate OpenClaw, luring users with a fake token 'CLAW' airdrop and directing them to a malicious site. The site was designed to resemble the official OpenClaw website and asks users to connect wallets such as MetaMask, WalletConnect and Trust Wallet.
If a user approves wallet access permissions, assets inside are stolen.
Meanwhile, OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger previously banned all cryptocurrency-related mentions on the official Discord server to block such risks.
The case is seen as an example showing that as the AI-driven development ecosystem expands, security threats targeting related communities are also rising in tandem.
