As tensions persist between the United States and Iran, Tehran described President Donald Trump’s remarks as “psychological warfare” and denied the possibility of negotiations. Markets showed heightened price volatility amid conflicting statements.

According to BlockBeats, a media outlet specializing in virtual assets (cryptocurrencies), on the 23rd, citing Iran’s Tasnim News Agency (Tasnim), a senior Iranian security official said, “President Trump’s related remarks are psychological warfare.”

The official added, “Iran has not engaged in any negotiations to date, and will continue taking measures to defend the country going forward.” He also said, “The situation in the Strait of Hormuz cannot be reversed to the pre-war state through psychological warfare.”

Separately, Iran also denied the possibility of direct or indirect contact with President Trump. Fars News Agency (Fars) was also reported to have denied whether talks between the two countries were taking place.

Market reactions followed. After the remarks, some of the gains were pared back and volatility increased. Bitcoin gave up intraday gains, slipping below about $70,000. The rise also slowed to around 2.5%.

International oil prices also saw short-term volatility. Brent crude briefly fell below $90 a barrel before rebounding to the $101 range.

Iran said, “The situation in the Strait of Hormuz cannot be reversed to the pre-war state through psychological warfare,” dismissing expectations for a de-escalation of tensions.
