As remarks related to negotiations between the United States and Iran continue, President Trump pointed to the possibility of an agreement while also signaling uncertainty. The dynamic reflects diplomatic outreach running in parallel with military tensions.
According to overseas breaking economic news channel Walter Bloomberg on the 23rd, President Trump said regarding talks with Iran, “I’m hoping for a deal, but I can’t guarantee it.”
Trump said he had “been in contact with Iran’s top leadership,” adding that negotiations “could take place soon, either by phone or through an in-person meeting.” He stressed, “Iran wants a deal, and we want a deal as well.” He also claimed that “Iran reached out first,” underscoring differences between the two sides.
He also assessed that “if a deal is reached, it would be a positive start for both Iran and the Middle East.”
However, he did not completely rule out the possibility of a military response. Asked about deploying U.S. forces, Trump said he “doesn’t discuss strategy.”
On energy policy, he said he wants to “keep as much oil supply as possible,” and on the nuclear issue he emphasized that the goal is “to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons.”
