According to The Guardian on the 23rd (local time), President Trump told reporters in an interview that “Iran very strongly wants an agreement, and we want an agreement as well.”
He added that “substantial agreement has been reached on key issues between the two sides,” and said “there is a possibility we will hold further discussions today via a phone call.”
He also stressed that the United States has the initiative in the negotiations, saying, “I didn’t reach out first—Iran contacted us first.”
