Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, emphasized that digital-asset technology will drive changes in the financial system.
According to CoinDesk, a cryptocurrency-focused media outlet, Fink said in his annual letter to shareholders on the 23rd (local time) that "digital wallets and tokenization can modernize financial markets and broaden access to investing."
He explained that recording asset ownership on a digital ledger and using regulated digital wallets could make issuance, trading and access faster and cheaper.
He also likened the current tokenization trend to the early days of the internet in 1996, predicting that rather than replacing traditional finance in the short term, it will gradually integrate with existing systems.
