The Iranian government has said it has "not held any discussions" regarding ceasefire talks with the United States.

According to Iran’s state-run Fars News Agency on the 25th (local time), Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei said that day, "(since the outbreak of the war) Tehran and Washington, D.C. are not in talks, and there have been no discussions of any kind." Baqaei added, "After an attack on Iran was carried out during negotiations, U.S. diplomacy cannot be trusted."

He stressed, "As I made clear yesterday as well, there is no dialogue or negotiation whatsoever between Iran and the United States." He said, "We were attacked twice in nine months during the negotiation process to resolve the nuclear issue," adding that "this was a betrayal of diplomacy."

He also again mentioned the U.S. ceasefire proposal. Baqaei said, "It is an undeniable fact that many countries in the Middle East and elsewhere have offered to serve as mediators in talks between Iran and the United States," adding, "We received requests related to negotiations and responded." He continued, "Our position is clear. We will continue to defend ourselves."
