The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) appears set to accelerate efforts to ease regulations related to tokenization.
According to Eleanor Terrett on the 25th (local time), SEC Chair Paul Atkins said in an interview with 'Crypto America' that the long-discussed tokenization innovation exemption could be introduced within the next few weeks.
The measure is understood to have been discussed as a way to grant certain regulatory carve-outs for experimental services involving tokenized assets.
The industry expects that, if implemented, the exemption could mark an important turning point for the expansion of markets for tokenized securities and real-world assets (RWA). However, the specific scope and eligible targets have yet to be disclosed.
