The Bhutanese government has transferred Bitcoin (BTC) worth $150 million externally so far this year.
According to Decrypt on the 26th (local time), the amount of Bitcoin the Bhutanese government has transferred to external addresses so far this year totaled about $150 million. The Bhutanese government also transferred Bitcoin worth $37 million to external addresses the previous day (the 25th).
Bhutan’s Bitcoin holdings stood at 4,453 as of that day. That is a drop of about 66% from the peak recorded in 2024 (around 13,000). Decrypt reported that “in recent weeks, (Bhutan’s) outbound Bitcoin transfers have increased,” adding that “(Bhutan) is accelerating Bitcoin sales at the national level.”
