Tensions in the Middle East are persisting as the United States signals its determination to reassert control over the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by overseas breaking-economy news channel Walter Bloomberg on the 30th, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, "The number of vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz is steadily increasing."
Bessent added, "The United States will regain control of the strait."
Earlier, President Trump also demanded the immediate opening of the Strait of Hormuz if negotiations are delayed, suggesting the possibility of a military response.
Meanwhile, markets are watching that prolonged tensions over the Strait of Hormuz—a key maritime shipping route in the Middle East—could affect energy supplies and increase volatility in global financial markets.
