U.S. equity index futures are surging across the board. The move follows comments by President Donald Trump, who—while attaching a caveat—said the U.S. would leave Iran six weeks after the start of hostilities.

As of 10:40 p.m. on the 30th (local time), Dow futures were up 0.96%, S&P 500 futures 0.92%, and Nasdaq futures 0.90% in New York trading. It is uncommon for futures to rise nearly 1% in unison.

About two hours earlier, index futures were falling across the board. Trump had threatened on his Truth Social earlier in the day that if no deal is reached with Iran, he would carry out a scorched-earth strike on Iran’s power plants and desalination facilities, and said the '4–6 week' military operation timeline remained unchanged.

Some are speculating that if a dramatic ceasefire deal is not reached next week, when the sixth week wraps up, the U.S. may be considering declaring victory after a large-scale strike. Against that backdrop, futures appear to have rebounded sharply in tandem on expectations the war could end early.
