Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on the 31st (local time) that it struck a US Marine staging area in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to Iran’s Tasnim News, the IRGC said it hit major US and Israeli targets across the Middle East early that morning, and in particular claimed it had located a US Marine staging area in the UAE and carried out a precision strike using suicide drones.
The IRGC said it “identified and struck a US Marine staging area that had been staying at a concealed location outside a coastal base in the UAE,” adding that “the site was a secret hub selected to avoid missile attacks.”
It also claimed it scored a direct hit with a ballistic missile on an Israeli-owned container ship, the Express Halfong, in the central waters of the Gulf (Persian Gulf).
However, vessel-tracking sites such as MarineTraffic do not show any ship named Express Halfong near the Gulf, while a similarly named Singapore-flagged vessel, Haiphong Express, has been confirmed to be in the Gulf.
No official response from the US or Israel regarding the IRGC’s claims has been confirmed.
