Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said he is “willing to end this conflict” if there are guarantees that the United States and Israel will not attack.
According to AFP and other outlets, the presidential office said on the 31st (local time) in a phone call with António Costa, President of the European Council, that “we have never sought escalation or war at any stage,” adding that “if essential conditions are met—especially if guarantees are provided to prevent a recurrence of aggression—we have the resolve necessary to end this conflict.”
Iran also claimed it respects the sovereignty of neighboring countries and has never sought to attack them, but was placed in a situation in which it had no choice but to strike U.S. military bases located in those countries.
Meanwhile, President Trump said at a White House event the same day, “What I’m going to do is leave Iran. We’ll be leaving very soon,” and, regarding the timing of the withdrawal, said it would be “within 2 to 3 weeks.”
