Huobi drops Tron from platform token lineup… Justin Sun: “I will drive HTX’s growth”

Crypto exchange HTX (formerly Huobi) has removed Tron (TRX) from its platform token lineup.

Justin Sun, Tron’s founder and an adviser to crypto exchange HTX, said via X on the 2nd (local time) that it has “designated HTX as Huobi’s sole platform token.” Sun said, “Over the past few years, through close cooperation between Tron and HTX, Tron was used as (HTX’s) platform token,” adding, “However, after several years of development, HTX has gradually built an independent operating system, and the business has moved onto a stable track.”

Sun emphasized that “making HTX Huobi’s only platform token is a better choice for both Huobi and Tron.” He noted, “Tron’s own performance is very strong and it has been recognized by the market, so there is no longer a need to ascribe value by relying on the attribute of being Huobi’s platform token,” and added that “Huobi’s HTX business is already stabilized and its growth momentum is also very strong.”

Sun’s view is that this decision will accelerate the development of the HTX ecosystem. He said, “(HTX) will benefit in both token price performance and overall ecosystem building,” adding, “The better HTX performs, the greater the payback to the Tron ecosystem will be.”
