"Two power supply facilities in Iran’s Asaluyeh hit…power to petrochemical complex cut off"
Summary
- Energy infrastructure in Iran’s Asaluyeh was attacked, reportedly halting power supply to a petrochemical complex.
- Asaluyeh is a key energy-industry hub linked to the South Pars gas field, and power disruptions could lead to actual production disruptions.
- Markets are focusing on the risk that attacks on energy infrastructure and tighter control of the Strait of Hormuz could affect global energy supply and financial-market volatility.

Energy infrastructure in Asaluyeh, southern Iran, was attacked, reportedly disrupting electricity supply to a petrochemical complex.
According to Walter Bloomberg’s X (formerly Twitter) on the 6th, electricity supply to petrochemical facilities was cut off after two utility companies in Asaluyeh came under attack.
Asaluyeh is a key hub for the energy industry linked to the South Pars gas field, raising concerns that power disruptions could translate into actual production setbacks.
On the same day, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz rose to the highest level in recent weeks. Twenty-one vessels transited over the weekend, and some countries reportedly reached agreements with Iran on safe passage.
Still, current transit volumes remain below pre-war levels. Iran is said to be tightening its control over the strait by selectively allowing passage for certain countries and charging transit fees.
Markets are watching the potential impact on global energy supplies and financial-market volatility as attacks on energy infrastructure coincide with stronger control of the strait.
