Tensions in the Middle East are escalating after Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed joint military action with Iran and Hezbollah.
According to X (formerly Twitter) posts on the overseas economic breaking-news channel Walter Bloomberg on the 6th, the Houthis said they had "carried out an attack together with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Lebanon’s Hezbollah." They added that they "launched an attack targeting Israel on Monday."
The same day, Iraq mentioned the possibility of normalizing crude oil exports. An official at the Basra Oil Company said, "If shipments through the Strait of Hormuz resume, we can restore crude exports to about 3.4 million barrels per day within a week."
However, with no security guarantees in place for passage through the strait so far, it remains uncertain whether supplies will actually be restored.
