President Donald Trump declined to provide details on the status of negotiations with Iran, saying only that talks are underway.

Trump told Fox News on April 7 that he could not comment on the negotiations. “I can’t say. Negotiations are currently underway,” he said.

He also declined to give a direct answer on Pakistan’s request for a two-week extension, saying he was waiting for a briefing on the proposal.

Trump said he knows the Pakistani official involved well and described the person as respected. He did not say whether he would accept the request.

Separately, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump is aware of the proposal and that a response will be announced soon. The course of the negotiations, along with the U.S. response, remains a key variable.
