Morgan Stanley’s spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund is set to make its market debut.

Cointelegraph reported on Aug. 8 that the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust, or MSBT, will list on NYSE Arca. Trading is scheduled to begin later on Aug. 8, Korea time.

The product is significant because it is the first Bitcoin ETF launched by a major U.S. commercial bank. It is also the first new spot Bitcoin ETF to launch in about two years, since Grayscale introduced the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust in July 2024.

MSBT carries a 0.14% fee, the lowest among existing Bitcoin ETFs. The pricing could trigger a fee-cutting battle among major rivals including BlackRock’s IBIT and Fidelity’s FBTC.

The Bitcoin ETF market is currently led by BlackRock and Fidelity. Their two products have drawn a combined $74.3 billion in net inflows since launch.

Morgan Stanley is using the ETF launch to speed up its expansion in digital assets. The bank previously selected Coinbase and BNY as custodians. Earlier this year, it also applied for a banking license to broaden services including crypto custody, trading and staking.

It is also pursuing listings for a staking Ether ETF and a Solana ETF, signaling a broader push into digital assets.
