Forecast Trend Report by Period

Iran’s parliamentary speaker said key terms of a proposal related to negotiations with the US had been violated, making a ceasefire and further talks difficult. The remarks reaffirm Tehran’s hard-line stance in the negotiating phase.
Walter Bloomberg reported on July 8 that Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran’s parliament, wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that major provisions among 10 items presented before negotiations began had been violated.
Under those circumstances, a bilateral ceasefire or negotiations with the US would not be reasonable. The comment called into question whether the conditions for talks had been met.
Iran has maintained a hard-line position on negotiating terms. Even as discussions over a ceasefire and renewed talks continue, differences over whether those conditions have been fulfilled persist.
With military tensions in the Middle East still elevated, whether negotiations resume and how each side responds remain key variables. Any shift in the positions of Washington and Tehran will be closely watched.
