Crypto media outlet BeInCrypto reported on May 8 that Woodcock, a partner at Gibson Dunn, had been named to the post.
Woodcock led the SEC’s Fort Worth regional office from 2011 to 2015. He is reported to have no background in cryptocurrency.
His predecessor, Margaret Ryan, resigned in late March amid internal conflict. The enforcement director role had remained vacant until this appointment.
