Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Israel's airstrikes on Lebanon violated the ceasefire agreement.
Walter Bloomberg reported on June 9 that Pezeshkian said continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon would make ceasefire talks meaningless.
The Israeli military struck more than 100 locations across Lebanon on June 8. At least 182 people were killed and about 900 were wounded, according to the Lebanese government. Israeli forces were also reported to have killed Ali Youssef Harisi, a personal secretary and nephew of Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem.
Iran says Lebanon is also covered by its ceasefire agreement with the US. Israel, by contrast, says its military operations in Lebanon targeting Hezbollah are not covered by the ceasefire.
US Vice President JD Vance will lead the American delegation in the first ceasefire talks with Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan, on June 11.
