Dunamu, the operator of cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, said Monday it will implement a five-point action plan to reduce energy use in support of the government's energy-saving policy.
The plan is centered on expanding employee participation and strengthening oversight of in-office energy use. It includes encouraging employees to join the government's National Action for Energy Saving campaign, introducing a voluntary five-day vehicle rotation system, complying with government heating and cooling guidelines, cutting standby power from power strips, and partially limiting elevator operations.
Dunamu said it will share details of the government's National Action for Energy Saving campaign internally and encourage employees to participate voluntarily. It will also promote public transportation through a voluntary vehicle rotation system, with eco-friendly vehicles, cars carrying pregnant women or infants, and vehicles for people with disabilities exempt.
The company will also implement energy-saving measures across its office space. Lights will be turned off during vacant periods such as lunch hours, and heating and cooling will be managed under the government's recommended standards of 20 degrees Celsius for heating and 26 degrees Celsius for cooling.
After work, employees will be asked to switch off power strips at their desks to reduce standby power consumption. Elevator operations in the building will also be limited outside commuting hours.
A Dunamu official said the company has strengthened its internal energy management measures in line with the government's policy and will continue those efforts.
