Former Vice President Kamala Harris criticized President Donald Trump’s Iran policy, arguing it could weaken US global influence over time.

Walter Bloomberg reported that Harris, speaking at an event in New York on June 10, described Trump’s response to Iran as a “war of choice.”

The policy is making the US “weaker, less trustworthy and less influential,” she said, adding that rivals including China are exploiting the situation.

Harris also rejected Trump’s claim that Iran’s nuclear capabilities had been eliminated, saying that was not true. She said the conflict could also fuel inflation in the US.

As political clashes over Iran policy continue in Washington, the direction of future US diplomatic and security strategy is seen as a key variable.
