Iran said negotiations with the US could begin if preconditions are accepted, signaling that any start to talks would be conditional.

Walter Bloomberg reported on July 10 that Iran had said "negotiations with the United States will begin if the preconditions are accepted."

An Iranian delegation led by Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also arrived in Islamabad ahead of peace talks. The delegation landed at Nur Khan Air Base and was escorted by the Pakistan Air Force, the report said.

The US and Iran have remained in contact over possible negotiations. Differences persist over preconditions, including the scope of a ceasefire.

With military tensions in the Middle East continuing, whether talks begin and whether those conditions are accepted remain key variables. Any shift in either side's position will be closely watched.
