Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a post on X on June 13 that the U.S. appeared to have “learned nothing” from its talks with Tehran.

Araghchi said Iran had negotiated with the U.S. in good faith to end the war during what he described as the closest high-level talks between the two sides in 47 years.

But when the sides were only steps away from an Islamabad agreement, Iran was met with excessive demands, constantly shifting objectives and threats of a blockade, he wrote. “Clearly, they seem to have learned nothing.”

He added, “Goodwill begets goodwill. Hostility begets hostility.” The remarks suggested Iran could respond.

Earlier, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf wrote on X that Americans should “enjoy current gasoline prices,” adding that because of the so-called “blockade,” they would soon miss $4-$5 a barrel oil.

He also posted the formula “△O_BSOH>0 → f(f(O))>f(O).” It appeared to mean that a blockade of oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz would continue pushing oil prices higher. He did not say Iran had imposed the blockade first.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military said it would begin a maritime blockade against Iran at 10 a.m. on June 13. Vessels not traveling to or from Iran would still be allowed to pass.
