Israel’s security cabinet is due to convene to discuss a possible ceasefire in Lebanon.
A senior Israeli official said June 15 that the cabinet would meet later in the day to discuss the possibility of a Lebanon ceasefire, Walter Bloomberg reported. Israel and Lebanon began talks in Washington on June 14 on a ceasefire and the disarmament of Hezbollah, the Iran-backed armed group in Lebanon.
Pakistan’s army chief was reported to be heading to Iran on June 15 to deliver a message from the US. Reuters reported that officials from Pakistan, Iran and several Gulf states said US and Iranian negotiating teams could return to Islamabad later this week. Iran’s Foreign Ministry said a Pakistani delegation was likely to arrive in Iran that day to deliver a message from Washington.
President Donald Trump told Fox Business on June 15 that the war with Iran would end very soon. “We’ll see what happens,” he said. “They really want to negotiate.”
