Iran and other Middle Eastern countries welcomed Israel and Lebanon's agreement to a 10-day ceasefire.

Esmaeil Baghaei, a spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry, said in remarks carried by state media on June 16 that Tehran welcomed the truce and described it as part of an agreement between Iran and the US reached through Pakistan's mediation.

He said Pakistan's efforts over the past 24 hours played a major role in securing the ceasefire and called on Israel to fully withdraw from the parts of southern Lebanon it currently occupies.

Iran has strongly called for a ceasefire in Lebanon. Tehran also says the Lebanon issue must be explicitly included in any future negotiations with the US on ending the war.

Other countries in the region also welcomed the ceasefire agreement and urged both sides to maintain it.

The United Arab Emirates said in a statement posted on X that it hopes the truce will become a positive step toward creating conditions that support regional stability.

Saudi Arabia and Oman also welcomed the deal in posts on X, saying all parties should comply with the ceasefire terms and avoid any violations that could undermine it.

Egypt called on Israel to comply with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701. The resolution was adopted in 2006 to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah and calls for a full Israeli military withdrawal from Lebanon and an end to military action by both sides.
