President Donald Trump reiterated that he is in no rush to reach an agreement with Iran, underscoring that Washington will keep up the pressure.

Walter Bloomberg reported on April 23 that Trump rejected claims the US is moving quickly to end its standoff with Iran.

"Time is on the side of the United States, and not on the side of Iran," Trump said.

He also argued that Iran's military capabilities have been significantly weakened and that its leadership is unstable, leaving the country's strategic position deteriorating.

Any agreement would be reached only if it clearly serves the interests of the US, its allies and global stability, he added.

Markets interpreted the remarks as a sign that the US is putting greater weight on sustaining pressure than on reaching a deal. How long negotiations drag on and whether geopolitical risks persist will be key variables going forward.
