Iran said it is open to negotiations with the US but will not give up its right to enrich uranium, underscoring the wide gap that remains over key issues.

Odaily, a crypto-focused media outlet, reported on April 25 that a senior Iranian foreign affairs official said Tehran is willing to engage in talks with Washington but will not abandon uranium enrichment activities.

Mohammad Fattahi, Iran’s ambassador to India, wrote in a social media post the same day that negotiations can produce meaningful results only if the other side recognizes Iran’s right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The US is pursuing a plan to halt Iran’s uranium enrichment program for up to 20 years, the report said. With differences between the two sides unresolved, progress in the negotiations remains unclear.
