SK Hynix has won the Corporate Innovation Award at the 2026 IEEE Awards, a technology awards program with a history of more than 100 years. The company was recognized for helping expand artificial intelligence computing through its high-bandwidth memory, or HBM, technology.

SK Hynix said on April 26 that it received the award at the 2026 IEEE Awards ceremony held in New York on April 24. IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, is a global association of technology professionals focused on advancing innovation for humanity.

The IEEE Awards have a history of more than a century. The organization selects winners in three categories — medals, technical field awards and recognition awards — for achievements in technological innovation and social progress. The Corporate Innovation Award, which falls under the recognition category, has been awarded since 1986 to companies that have contributed to industrial and social development through innovative technologies. SK Hynix won the prize for the first time.

The company said it was recognized for stably mass-producing every generation of HBM and contributing to the growth of the global AI computing ecosystem. Its memory solutions were also credited with helping overcome performance limits in AI platforms and establishing SK Hynix as a trusted partner in the global AI market.

SK Hynix said its early introduction of innovative HBM solutions and timely response to customer demand in the global AI market also supported the award. The company added that its continued expansion of AI infrastructure partnerships with major US technology companies, under SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won's long-term focus on strengthening technological competitiveness, also helped lay the groundwork for the recognition.

Ahn Hyun, president and chief development officer, attended the ceremony and accepted the award on the company's behalf. “It is an honor to receive this award on behalf of SK Hynix employees, who have continually challenged and overcome technological limits,” Ahn said. “We will work closely with global customers and partners to stay ahead of market demand and become a top-tier company leading AI innovation.”
