Tether has launched an open-source development framework designed to unify management of Bitcoin mining infrastructure.

On April 27, the company said it released the Mining Development Kit, or MDK, for mining operators and developers. It is an integrated infrastructure layer designed to manage mining hardware, data and operating systems within a single architecture.

MDK combines a JavaScript-based backend software development kit with React user interface components. Tether said it is built as an open architecture to replace closed mining solutions, allowing users from individual miners to large industrial mining facilities to directly control and scale their infrastructure.

The mining industry has faced constraints on operating efficiency and scalability because of vendor lock-in and fragmented systems. To address that, MDK provides standardized interfaces between equipment and services, along with a central orchestration layer for unified infrastructure management.

The framework also supports automation and artificial intelligence-based optimization aimed at improving mining efficiency. Operators can use it to build dashboards, design automated workflows, manage mining pools and analyze data in a consistent environment.

Tether described MDK as an extension of its previously unveiled Mining OS, or MOS. While MOS integrates management of hardware, energy and operational data, MDK serves as a framework for building applications on top of that system.

Chief Executive Officer Paolo Ardoino said MDK offers scalability and programmability through the standardization of mining infrastructure. He added that next-generation mining will shift toward automation and optimization.
