Reuters reported on April 27 that several tankers carrying about 4 million barrels of Iranian oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on April 24 despite a US military blockade.
Satellite tracking site TankerTrackers.com said multiple tankers loaded with about 4 million barrels of Iranian oil exited the strait on April 24.
A separate analysis by the site found that six tankers carrying a combined 10.5 million barrels were unable to pass through the strait in recent days and returned to Iranian ports.
Iran moved to control the strait immediately after the war broke out on Feb. 28, and the US began a blockade on April 13 in response.
Iran briefly reopened the strait on April 17 and April 18, but has since reimposed control.
US Central Command said on April 25 that it had rerouted 37 vessels along alternative routes since imposing the blockade on April 13.
Data from vessel-tracking firm Kpler and satellite analysis company SynMax showed that at least seven ships, mostly bulk carriers, passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the past day.
Some of those vessels departed from Iraqi ports, while one sailed from an Iranian port.
That is a sharp drop from the prewar average of about 140 ships a day transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
