Dogecoin is making inroads into Europe’s traditional financial markets, expanding access for institutional investors.
Swiss digital-asset manager 21Shares has listed a Dogecoin exchange-traded product on Xetra, Deutsche Börse’s trading platform, Coinpaper reported on April 28.
The product is built as a spot instrument. 21Shares holds Dogecoin directly and manages the ETP with the token as its underlying asset. That structure offers more transparent price tracking than synthetic products that use derivatives or swaps.
Xetra is one of Europe’s main electronic trading platforms and a key venue for institutional investors such as banks and asset managers. The listing broadens the options for investing in DOGE within a regulated market framework.
Investors can gain exposure to Dogecoin through a regular brokerage account without setting up a separate crypto wallet or executing on-chain transactions. That lowers barriers for institutional investors that have faced limits on direct crypto purchases because of custody, security and compliance requirements.
21Shares already manages crypto ETPs on major European exchanges including Euronext, the London Stock Exchange and SIX Swiss Exchange. The Xetra listing is part of the firm’s strategy to expand distribution across Europe.
The move underscores how Dogecoin, which started as a meme coin, is becoming more integrated into regulated financial infrastructure. At the same time, rising demand for indirect exposure through regulated products could drive further growth in tokenized assets and the crypto ETP market.
