Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin sold 40 million ASTEROID OG tokens that he had received as a donation, as the memecoin surged more than 120% in a day.
Onchain Lens said on April 29 that Buterin sold the tokens for about $114,600 based on the value at the time of the sale.
The tokens were part of a donated allocation, according to the on-chain tracker. It added that Buterin has started selling donated memecoins and may make additional sales.
ASTEROID rose more than 120% at one point on April 29. CoinMarketCap data showed the token trading around $0.013 as of 3:34 p.m., up 86.24% from a day earlier. Odaily said news of Buterin's token sale may have contributed to the jump.
