President Donald Trump met with executives from major energy companies, Axios reported.

Trump held the meeting on April 28 with senior executives from major oil and gas companies, the political news outlet reported on April 29. Attendees included Chevron Chief Executive Officer Mike Wirth, Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, who has been involved in negotiations with Iran, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The meeting covered a wide range of energy issues, including the fallout from the Iran war, US energy production, crude futures, natural gas and maritime shipping. Walter Bloomberg reported that a White House official said Trump also discussed ways with energy companies to maintain a counter-blockade of the Strait of Hormuz for the next several months if needed.

Global oil prices have continued to rise as talks between the US and Iran on ending the war have effectively stalled. West Texas Intermediate crude futures briefly topped $100 a barrel intraday for the first time in about two weeks since April 13.
