Iran is expected to send the US a revised proposal for negotiations soon, updating an earlier peace plan.
CNN and other media reported on April 29, citing people familiar with the matter, that Iran could send the new proposal as early as this week through Pakistan, which is acting as a mediator. The contents of the revised proposal have not been disclosed.
Iran had previously proposed leaving the issue of its nuclear program for later and first discussing the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the maritime blockade on the country. The US did not accept that approach. The Donald Trump administration has maintained that any peace proposal must include the nuclear program and, in particular, specify a concrete deadline for limiting nuclear activity.
With the two sides still sharply divided, the central question in the upcoming talks will be whether Iran's revised proposal includes concessions on its nuclear program.
