The Bureau of Economic Analysis said April 30 that the March core PCE price index rose 3.2% from a year earlier, in line with a 3.2% estimate compiled by Dow Jones.
The index also rose 0.3% from the previous month, matching market expectations.
The core PCE price index measures prices paid by US consumers for goods and services excluding food and energy. It is a key gauge the Federal Reserve watches ahead of policy decisions, including benchmark interest-rate moves.
