Bitcoin posted its strongest monthly return in a year in April, lifting expectations for May. Historically, Bitcoin has delivered an average return of about 8% in May.
CoinGlass data on May 2 showed Bitcoin gained 11.87% in April. That was its highest monthly return since April 2025, when it rose 14.08%. It was still slightly below the historical average April return of 12.98%.
Nick Puckrin, founder of Coin Bureau, called the advance meaningful even though Bitcoin remains far from reclaiming its all-time high. On Binance's Tether market, Bitcoin was trading at about $78,160. That is roughly 38% below the record high reached in October 2025.
