Iran’s Revolutionary Guard warned that ships violating regulations in the Strait of Hormuz could face forced interception. The statement signals rising tensions as Tehran tightens control over maritime transit.
Crypto-focused media outlet Odaily reported on May 4 that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said procedures governing the Strait of Hormuz had not changed and that vessels following designated routes and transit rules could continue operating safely.
The Guard added that maritime activity that does not conform to its naval principles would face “serious risks.” It warned that ships found to be in violation of the rules could be forcibly intercepted.
Iran also urged shipping companies and insurers to strictly comply with the relevant guidelines.
Markets are watching whether tighter controls around the Strait of Hormuz could affect crude shipments and the global energy market.
