A Chinese state-backed investment fund is seeking to invest in domestic artificial intelligence startup DeepSeek at a valuation of $45 billion, the Financial Times reported.

The newspaper reported on May 6 that the China Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund is pursuing an investment in DeepSeek. The fund has valued the company at about $45 billion. The size of the investment and the companies participating in the funding round have not been finalized.

The China Integrated Circuit Industry Investment Fund, known as the "Big Fund," is one of China's main semiconductor investment vehicles. Bloomberg has described it as an investor in some of China's largest chip companies, including SMIC.
