President Donald Trump said on May 6 that an agreement related to ending the war with Iran could be reached before his May 14-15 trip to China.

In a phone interview with US public broadcaster PBS, Trump said he felt the two sides were getting close to a deal with Iran. But he added that he had felt that way before and would have to see what happens.

Asked whether such an agreement could be reached before his visit to China next week, Trump said, "It's possible."

Trump also said there was a very strong chance of reaching another deal with Iran. Otherwise, he said, the US would return to "the old way."

"If they agree, everything is over," Trump said. "If they don't agree, we'll bomb them."

Asked about speculation that an agreement could include Iran sending highly enriched uranium to the US, Trump said it would go to America, "not 'maybe.'"
