The US attacked two tankers bound for Iran in waters off Oman.
US Central Command said on its official X account on May 8 that it had enforced a blockade against two empty Iranian-flagged tankers seeking to enter an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman. It said US Navy warplanes struck the vessels and disabled them.
CENTCOM also announced that it disabled another Iranian-flagged vessel in Omani waters on May 6. All three ships are no longer moving toward Iran.
Gen. Brad Cooper, the head of US Central Command, said American forces stationed in the Middle East are committed to fully enforcing the blockade on vessels traveling to and from Iran. He added that US troops were carrying out the mission effectively.
