President Donald Trump said he expects to receive Iran's response later tonight to a US proposal to end the conflict with Tehran. He declined to say whether Iran was intentionally dragging out the negotiations.
In an interview with CNN on May 8, Trump was asked whether he had received an official response from Iran. "It looks like we'll be getting a letter tonight," he said.
Asked again whether he believed Iran was deliberately slowing the talks, Trump said, "I don't know." "We'll know soon," he added.
Trump's remarks came shortly after a briefing by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Rubio had earlier said he expected Iran's response on Friday, May 8, to the proposal to end the war, while pressing Tehran to make a swift decision.
