Reuters reported on May 10 that the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, or UKMTO, said a bulk carrier sailing 23 nautical miles, or about 43 kilometers, northeast of Doha had reported being hit by an unidentified projectile.
A small fire broke out on the vessel but was later extinguished, and no casualties were reported, UKMTO said.
The incident occurred as the US and Iran were holding talks on a memorandum of understanding covering an end to the war and nuclear issues. It has not been confirmed whether Iran has responded to the US proposal for the MOU.
