Ceasefire talks between the US and Iran have stalled again, and President Donald Trump said additional military action could still be launched over the next two weeks.
Trump told KOMO News in an interview on the US current affairs program "Full Measure" that aired May 10 that "we could go into Iran for two more weeks and strike every target." He said roughly 70% of the specific targets the US had sought were already hit, but other targets remained.
The comments contrasted with recent signals from the Trump administration that military operations were nearing an end. The US and Iran had resumed ceasefire talks earlier, but failed to narrow differences over key conditions, the report said.
Trump also revisited the issue of Iran's highly enriched uranium. "At some point, we will secure it," he said. "We are monitoring it, and the Space Force is watching it."
If anyone approached it, the US would know their name, address and badge number, he said. Even getting near it would be detected, and the US would blow it up, he added.
Israel is also increasing pressure by making uranium removal a condition for ending the war. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with CBS's "60 Minutes" the same day that Iran's highly enriched uranium must be removed from the country and its uranium enrichment facilities dismantled.
Markets are watching for wider swings in oil and crypto as geopolitical risks in the Middle East come back into focus.
