The Graph has added x402 Payments, a USDC-based payment feature for on-chain data. The system allows developers and AI agents to buy and query data directly without using API keys.

Crypto media outlet BlockBeats reported on May 12 that The Graph had officially integrated x402 Payments into its Graph Gateway.

Users can now access on-chain data on a pay-per-request basis using USDC.

Demand for on-chain data from AI agents and automated programs has been rising rapidly, according to the report.

The Graph currently indexes a range of blockchain data, including token information, decentralized exchange, or DEX, data, governance updates, and non-fungible token, or NFT, metadata.

Previously, users had to obtain separate API keys to access the data. With the addition of x402, they can now pay in USDC for direct access, the project said.

The feature supports USDC payments on the Base mainnet and the Base Sepolia testnet. The existing API-key system will remain in place.
