Some China-linked vessels began transiting the Strait of Hormuz on the night of May 13, Iran's Fars News Agency reported on May 14.

A source told Fars the ships were allowed to sail through the strait as long as they complied with rules set by Iran.

The source described the passage of China-linked vessels through Hormuz as the result of efforts by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and China's ambassador to Iran.

The source added that the transit was finalized after vessels requested by the Chinese side agreed to Iran's rules governing traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, Iran's state broadcaster, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, reported that more than 30 vessels authorized by Iran had passed through the Strait of Hormuz from the night of May 13.
