Iran said its top priority is ending the war, as markets also watch for any opening for negotiations amid continued tensions with the US.

Odaily, a digital-asset media outlet, reported on May 18 that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran is currently focused on bringing the war to an end.

Markets have seen increased volatility in global oil prices and risk assets as the possibility of negotiations to end the conflict has emerged even while Washington and Tehran continue to trade hard-line rhetoric.

Earlier, President Donald Trump warned Iran that "if they do not act quickly, there will be nothing left." Iran responded that it knows how to retaliate.
